Who we are
Merlin Practice is made and operated by FlightDeck Aptitude Ltd, a company registered in Scotland. These terms are between FlightDeck Aptitude Ltd and the parent or carer who creates the account.
What we provide
Merlin Practice is independent online practice that helps children become familiar with the question types used in the CAT4 reasoning test. It offers original practice in verbal, quantitative, non-verbal and spatial reasoning, with timed and untimed modes and parent reports. It does not sell, host or reproduce GL Assessment's tests or any school's tests.
Independence
Merlin Practice is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to GL Assessment, any other test publisher, any education regulator or any school. CAT4 is a GL Assessment test, named here only to describe it. Trademarks belong to their owners.
Original content
Every question, diagram and explanation on Merlin Practice is original. We do not copy questions, layouts or scoring from GL Assessment, published papers or other providers.
Scores are practice feedback
Results and parent reports describe performance on Merlin Practice questions only. They are not standard age scores, stanines, percentiles, predictions of a CAT4 result or comparisons with other children.
No guarantee of a place
Practice can build familiarity and confidence. We do not guarantee any test result, school place or admission outcome. Schools set their own tests and criteria and may change them.
Family accounts
Accounts are for parents and carers aged 18 or over. A parent can add up to three child profiles. Children do not create accounts or give an email address. The parent is responsible for keeping sign-in details secure and for how the account is used.
Passes and add-ons
Test Month (£29, 1 month) and Admissions Pass (£59, 6 months) are one-off payments with no automatic renewal, covering one child. An extra child (£15) is added to the current pass until it ends. A Mock pack (£12) gives one full mock exam and can be bought with or without a pass. Access starts when payment is confirmed. Any purchase can be refunded in full within 14 days, as set out in the refund policy. A new pass cannot be bought while another pass is active. Saved results stay in the account after a pass ends.

Guide pages give general information about the CAT4 and school admissions from public sources, with the date they were checked. Admissions arrangements change; always confirm details with the school.

Governing law and operator
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. The contracting entity and operator is FlightDeck Aptitude Ltd (company number SC904044). Registered-office and contact details are listed on this page.
